The giraffe Lunani, the cheetah Maji, the ostrich Sprinter and the lemur Julian are the official mascots of the European Athletics Team Championships, which will be held on May 29-30 this year at the Silesian Stadium. Importantly, each of the mascots has its prototype living in the Zoological Garden in the Silesian Park, where the Silesian Stadium is located.
Why as many as four? This is the reference to a team in which every player counts, and the ability to cooperate translates into the final result of a given team.
The Giraffe Lunani is the mascot-captain of the European Athletics Team Championships. The 16-meter-high reinforced concrete structure of the giraffe has been welcoming visitors to the Silesian Park for over 60 years.
The cheetah is the fastest animal in the world. Over short distances, it can reach speeds of up to 100 km / h in just 3 seconds. We believe that the athletes of the European Athletics Team Championships will achieve equally impressive results.
The ostrich is characterized by the ability to cover long distances at speeds of up to 70 km / h. Extremely strong legs make them exceptionally fast and agile. We wish such speed to the sprinters of the European Athletics Team Championships.
Lemurs call up positive emotions mainly due to animated movies, that is why our mascot’s name is also not random. They are certainly characterized by agility and the ability to learn quickly and “share” newly acquired knowledge with other animals.
